Exploring God and consciousness through an agnostic podcaster

“Richard Feynman emphasized that one should always be careful to record all the evidence against one’s theories; indeed, one should bend over backwards to consider it, since the easiest person to fool is oneself.”

—John Lennox

I don’t remember when or why I came across Alex O’Conner and his podcast and Youtube channel Within Reason, but I keep coming back to it.

He’s a great interviewer who seems genuinely interested in learning views different than his own and having productive discussions about important ideas. And he seems like a really good human. He was once under the moniker “Cosmic Skeptic” and was quite sure he was atheist. Over time he has identified more as an agnostic,  Funny enough, he has said that if he were to ever become a Christian or join a church it would likely be “Mormonism.” There has been an interview or two where he asks such good pressing questions of his famous atheist guests that one feels more prone to believe in a God than not. Here are three of my favorites that I just re-listened to that will give you much to think about regarding some of the biggest questions that life offers us.

John Lennox—Why Science Needs God

Iain McGilchrist—The Mind is More Than a Machine

Annaka Harris—Is Consciousness Fundamental?
