THE CONVERSATION:
Negotiating is a fact of life. We do it constantly and most often with people we see frequently and care about the most. Yet we likely rarely do it thoughtfully or skillfully. Negotiating is so much more than getting our way, or winning. It is really an ongoing relationship. One that creates a jointly held future that you and others can inhabit with grace and gratitude. It is seeing your negotiating partner wholly and with curiosity. It is living in your integrity while encouraging them to live in theirs.
Explore with Stan how best to negotiate your values and desires at a time when so many seem bent on conquering rather than negotiating in the political arena. And how to better negotiate in our religious organizations as well as with our private spiritual inclinations—both often insisting on certainty and conformity.
ABOUT STAN:

In 2024 Stan Christensen launched the podcast, All Things Negotiation. He is a consulting professor at Stanford where he teaches the popular course on Negotiation and Sustainable Development. He was the Co-Founder and Managing Director for Arbor Advisors (arboradvisors.com). He started his career working in corporate finance on Wall Street, then worked as a negotiation advisor with the consulting arm of The Harvard Negotiation Project. In this capacity, he traveled to over 75 countries and worked with corporations and governments, negotiating transactions and mediating conflicts. Before co-founding Arbor, Stan was the General Manager of a Linux-based software company. He graduated from Brigham Young University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a former Kellogg Fellow and a member of The Council on Foreign Relations.
In the 1990’s Stan was a member of The Sunstone Foundation Board of Trustees.

- Click on the Zoom link above for either last month’s recorded conversation (if the event date has passed) or the live conversation now. If you are participating in the live conversation keep reading.
- When you are connected you will either be waiting in a lobby and will let be in shortly or you will immediately be able to see other participants. Please make sure that you are muted and that your video is on if you choose to have it on. (Love to see and hear you live, but we’ll take curious lurkers also.)
- If you can’t hear the host, me, or others, find your settings and make sure you have a working microphone and speaker selected. OR maybe the problem is on my end so please let me know if it is.
ZOOM ETIQUETTE:
- Please mute your microphone before entering and when you are not speaking so noises are not heard by everyone else.
- If you are going to multitask—not recommended—or wander around a lot, please turn off your video and make sure you are muted. No one wants to be distracted by you eating or using the loo.
