“We need more than civility, empathy, and good will. We need courage.“
-Braver Angels
We need the courage, curiosity, and humility to talk to those different than us. Those who may even feel like our enemies. Especially now that the election is over and a new administration begins, we need to listen to those who lost as well as those who won. We need to listen to what matters to the other. There are tools out there to make this much easier than doing it on our own. For January’s Think Again, we will be exploring with co-founder of Living Room Conversations, Joan Blades, one proven valuable tool in mending our country. I hope you’ll join us.
Another tool is Braver Angels. Erika Munson, Utah’s coordinator for this well-regarded organization sent me an invitation to an online event they are hosting this Thursday. This invitation is extended to you:
“Braver Angels Utah is offering an informal online gathering of members, subscribers, and anyone interested in political depolarization. This grassroots citizens movement needs willing hearts and hands. Meeting regularly will help us move the work forward at this crucial time in our nation’s history. These meetings will be very short but give us the opportunity to connect with each other, get updates, and ask questions.
They’ll be held the third Thursday of every month. The first will be this Thursday, December 17. Join us!
Here’s the link to register. (Note: Click on “Select a Date” and select December 17)
