How to explain systemic racism to non-liberals

“Why is covid-19 killing more black people than white people in America?

For many on the left, the answer is easy: “systemic racism.” That answer drives conservatives bonkers. Covid-19 comes from a virus; it does not care whether victims are white or black and, indeed, doesn’t have eyes to distinguish.

Conservatives, I understand why you feel this way. But on this issue, the left is, well, right.”

I think one of the most important things we’ve got to get right is to seek to understand those who oppose us—whatever the issue is and then honor and express, as best as we can, their position. If we ever hope to have the opposition do the same for us then someone needs to make these first moves. My last post about Daryl Davis illustrated this powerfully. He continues to be a game changer.

But I digress. I take both the Trib and Des News. Below are some valuable articles from the Latter-Day Saint owned conservative paper, the Deseret News, about Black Lives Matter that I sent to some more conservative LDS folk. Along with the lead article I quote above:
