Utah, We Need to Talk: Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and the Community
Presentation of CourtWatch Provo findings, Q&A with experts, and community conversation around domestic violence and sexual assault.
Thu, January 23, 2020
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
The Startup Building Event Space
111 West 600 South Provo, UT 84601
1 in 3 women in Utah will experience intimate partner violence and 1 in 3 women have experienced sexual assault. What can we do as a community?
CourtWatch Provo has a great line up of speakers working in the criminal justice system and victim services, but this isn’t just a presentation. We want YOU to be part of the conversation. As you arrive you will be seated at a table with other members of the community and you’ll have time to eat and chat. After hearing from our speakers you and your table mates will engage in facilitated civic dialogue. There is power in conversation, empathy, and awareness, but it’s also pretty fun!

The Golden Rule is a universal and timeless art that offers humanity a means to deeper understanding between cultures, religions and personal belief systems. It is through our understanding of differences—beginning on an individual level—that we discover how to balance the desires and needs of all beings. The Golden Rule Project, Utah Conversations and Utah Humanities invite you to join in a series of conversations with others in our community, in which we will explore the Golden Rule in our personal, professional, and societal lives—and renew our yearning to live this timeless art on a daily basis.
