Join us for an evening of deep listening across the political divide.

GATHERING AT:

Home of Ed and Kristen Iversen
3582 Oak Rim Way Salt Lake City, UT 84109

This is one of those times where it would be helpful to bring a light folding chair. Thank you.

If there is no parking to be found near the home you can also park in the “park & ride” lot on the NW corner of 3900 South and Wasatch Blvd. Oak Rim Way is just east of the intersection on the north side.

You’re invited to bring some finger food to share.

THE DISCUSSION:

Better Angels is a citizens’ movement dedicated to decreasing political polarization.  Founded in December 2016, its goals are to provide individuals and communities with the tools to:
  • Humanize neighbors who think differently from you
  • Come to an accurate understanding of how you disagree
  • Support principles that bring citizens together rather than divide them.
Erika Munson will tell the Better Angels story and lead us in exercises that can improve our skills  for having respectful conversations that clarify differences, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of the relationship.

Your assignment: please bring someone who thinks differently than you politically.  The more passionate the better! Seriously.

As with all our gatherings, there is no pressure to speak or share. But what makes Think Again and Faith Again valuable is not just who presents but who is present, prepared, and willing to share. Suggestions on how to listen and share can be found on the intentions page.

ABOUT ERIKA:

Erika Munson is the volunteer State Coordinator for Better Angels Utah. She has deep Utah roots but grew up in the politically charged climate of Cambridge, Massachusetts in the 60s and 70s. She is a mother, grandmother, and English teacher at Waterford School in Sandy. She is also co-founder of Mormons Building Bridges.
